This dry, delicate and fruity sake features a smooth, silky texture, tinged with aromas and flavors of pear, melon, honeysuckle, custard, and nutmeg. The finish is clean and refreshing with an emerging taste of lightly salted fruit. This sake is compared to Pinot Blanc of medium-bodied, fruity, and soft.

In 1992, Takara introduced the first ginjo sake made in the USA, Sho Chiku Bai Premium Ginjo. This junmai ginjo sake is brewed in Berkeley with Calrose polished to 50%. Since then, it remains one of the top-selling junmai ginjo sake in the US.

Behind the Japanese Tradition of Sake

Whether you already love Ginjo sake or you're tasting it for the first time, you should know something about the history of this distinct beverage. Sake is a rice wine with roots in Japan. It has been produced for more than 1,000 years. The Japanese brought the tradition to the Imperial Court, where the drink was served on special occasions for centuries. Eventually, sake made its way into everyday life, and it expanded around the world. Today, Americans love Sho Chiku Bai Ginjo and other kinds of sake.
